nyn: Ray is running (callum bliss by scriggle)
I've absolutely lost track of time. I swear I have no idea when or how the last, say two or three weeks passed *headdesk*. It's a black hole, I'm starting to suspect :/.

Anyway, first off- a meme-type thingy I should have done, oh, just a month ago.
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

What the fuck would Mildmay do? Seriously, I've asked myself that, from time to time *smirk*. Not because what he does is always right, but it's always the best he can do. Mildmay The Fox is a character from The Doctrine Of Labyrinths by Sarah Monette. The pic is from The Virtu's cover and the character is one of my all time favourites. I can't wait to learn what's going to happen to him and his half-brother Felix in the last book. (by [livejournal.com profile] praderwilli)

Surprise, surprise, that's Callum Keith Renie. I'm not sure what character that is, actually, but it looks like Leoben from BSG? Or not. Like there's anyone played by CKR I wouldn't use as an icon :P Anyway, it has a nice, slightly moody, blue :P feeling about it. (and it's by [livejournal.com profile] souncanadian)

Everyone's favourite Geoffrey Tennant, from Slings And Arrows, played by Paul Gross :). Mad as a hatter, genius, hilarious grumpy and hot. (and again by [livejournal.com profile] souncanadian)

*g* That's one of my favourite icons, from the ones I've made, and one of those that fit me the best :P. Hi, I'm Nyn and I'm an insomniac that loves to sleep, but can't get herself to go to bed before 4 am. That is, of course, Ray Kowalski from Due South. And he didn't look quite so tired in the original cap.

I used to have an icon that said "Mal Reynolds is my hero". I lost it, along with my whole pics folder(the pain!), but it's still true. Firefly was on of the most unjustly and prematurely cancelled shows, but short or not, remains one of the best. That's on of my "pissed" icons :)) (by [livejournal.com profile] iconsbycurtana)

I've (slightly panicky) started working on my dss assigment. I'll do it in time though. And then I'll finally change the layout that was going to stay just for a few days. I'm also (slightly more panicky, because it's not quite working) trying to really study. So now I'm going, but I'll be making a cooking post later (Yup. I crave new recipies.)

I want icon gleeee....

Heh, you picked good ones.

1. My newest icon! I found this while idly browsing a journal someone, and liked it so much that I stole it; I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, though. Here in America "your mother!" or various variations thereof is a common insult, as are comments relating to the, er, shall we say, intimate activities of said mother. We also have rather silly video game ratings here, from E (for Everyone!) to M (mature, 18+ only). So, this is meant as an insult: your mom, rated E for Everyone, i.e. she sleeps with everyone.

Heh.

2. "KBTI" in Braille. KBTI is the initials of my workplace, the Kansas Braille Transcription Institute. I use this for work-related posts (expect one later today!).

3. Ahh, yes, I love this one. There's a story behind it. You see, there's an artist here in America called Thomas Kinkaid, and his paintings are beloved of crazy overly-sentimental Christians and people with no taste in art for their "use of light" and "happiness" and other such meaningless drivel. Basically, it's really crappy and very overly-commercialized "art" that some Christians will fill their homes with. But that's not all; he also makes movies and writes inspirational books and has basically invented an entire market for Thomas Kinkaid merchandise--all with a Christian message, of course!

But the thing is, he's also a notorious drunk and is a complete nutjob. He likes to mark his territory by peeing (I'm sadly not kidding), he's infamous for treating his employees and other artists badly, and he also likes groping women in public. The codpiece reference comes from an incident several years back when Kinkaid was attending a magic show in Las Vegas; he was drunk, and starting shouting "codpiece! Codpiece!" at the performers.

So, I took one of his paintings, overlaid the phrase in nice glowing Kinkaid-style letters, and use it when I am criticizing the idiotic crap that passes for Christian "art" and "culture" these days, or when I see silly hypocrisy (like, you know, a supposedly "good Christian man" who screams obscenities at other artists).

4. Have you seen Big Trouble in Little China? If you haven't, you should! It's crazy and awesome. This is Lo Pan, the evil arch-villain from the movie. At one point he says "oh this really pisses me off to no end!" and so I have adopted it for posts about things that piss me off to no end.

5. This is the Lagoon Nebula. I use it for posts relating to astronomy or when I'm contemplating the beauty and wonder of the universe.
