was my entry for the Due South Secret Santa. It was a fun, if deadline-scary thing to participate in, it was really cool that they let artist play this year :D. ETA: And I credited my betas over at the dsss site, but forgot to do so here /o\!

Date: 2009-01-03 05:21 pm (UTC)From:And I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how to put it on my journal. I mean, I started out with the standard LJ blue and white, and then I literally clicked once on "quiet green" or something like three years ago and haven't changed a thing since. Help! Because I want to show off the pretty!!!

Date: 2009-01-03 06:26 pm (UTC)From:Ok, so I installed my header image using a tutorial from here and I think the easiest way to do this would be for you to choose one of the themes that have premade codes, listed there. Unless you really want to keep your current style.
To change your layout, or just look at what's available, go to Manage->Customize. Under "Select a New Theme" are all the themes, you can browse them and if you click on the little magnifying glass pic, you get a preview of how your own journal could look like.
If you choose one of the themes listed in the tutorials, follow the instructions there and ask me if you have any questions. If not, I could try to figure out the tutorial that explains about adding a header for the rest.
You can use this link for the image http://i42.tinypic.com/apbbww.jpg or upload it somewhere else if you want. The size is 800x450.
As for the colours, if you need to change anything(and one usually does), like set the background to a #000000 black to blend with the image, here is the place. Again, if you need any help, I'm here ;)
I hope I was of any (coherent) help!
