*g* Well, no, you don't, exactly. Youghurt originated in our region(the Balkans) and for it to really be youghurt, it needs Lactobacillus bulgaricus or one of the simillar bacteries that can mostly only survive in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey and maybe some of the other countires nearby.
As far as i know(from what friends that have lived abroad have told me, as well as general knowledge), youghurt in other countries is more creamlike and doesn't have the specific taste it has here.
