nyn: (Big-eyed mountie)
So um. HI! If anyone still bothers to look my way, which with me being so amazingly active here would be a miracle. HELLO TO ALL THE FISH I friended during this hiatus though! :D Not that much has changed since my last not-really-update, regarding my way too busy for my liking RL state. Hence the lj fail. One thing that's changed though is that I have no more semesters left in the university (omfg yay). Only internships and a whole bunch of leftover exams and then the exams that seem to correspond to the boards in USA (not yay at all *l*). Teh end is almost in sight. What comes after that is probably unemployment, or working something completely unrelated to make ends meet, but hey, at least I won't be in school anymore.

Some of the things I've been fangirling lately:
  • Criminal Minds - I feel like I won't be able to watch anything else until I have finished all the seasons of this and seeing as how I began s4, this is probably true. Psychology! Crimes! Awesome family-like team ♥! Reid! Garcia! Morgan! And everyone else! *lol*
  • Inception - Great movie, even greater fandom with a seemingly (please, let it always be like that :P) unending supply of quality fic that more than makes up for the lack of characterisation in the movie itself. Amazing art as well. And of course, from a fan of Canadian actors' point - yay Ellen Page!
  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt - one of the best things to come to my attention because of Inception. Remembered him from 3rd Rock From The Sun and 10 Things I hate About You *l*, but hadn't known what an amazing actor he is (can't really tell just by Inception either). Manic, Mysterious Skin, Brick, The Lookout => Nyn completely in love with this guy's acting. I waaaant to see Hesher damn it!
  • Tom Hardy - totally not my physical type (unlike Joe up there *g*), so I didn't really pay him a lot of attention at first, but people in the fandom worship him for reasons besides his looks. Bronson, Freddie from The Take (whom I nominate for scariest villain o.o), Handsome Bob from Rocknrolla - another man who knows how to act.
  • The Eagle - It's the love story of Marcus the depressed Roman soldier and Esca, his fierce grumpy Briton slave (and totally the boss), set to one of my favourite tropes - a journey/quest against some breath taking landscapes xD What's not to love. (And yes, I am aware there's a book that people who read and loved as children may feel was somehow offended by the movie, but I have started it and so far I like the movie dynamics way better. Which is not to say the movie did not have issues.) Some awesome fic too. And Jamie Bell is one intense little dude for whom I'll have an eye out. I love how many good actors I've been discovering lately :P
  • Game Of Thrones - I waited and waited and then forgot about it entirely and then there the tv show was. I had faith that HBO could pull this off and they did. Takes a few eps to get back to the Westeros mood and remember -why the hell- you cared about these characters, but once you do it's great. Even if I don't think half of the cast fits my vision of the characters (Jon?! Sansa?! Jaeme? etc) but oh well. And then after just 10 eps you're made to wait for next season *grumbles*. I have A Dance With  Dragons and it arrived just a bit too late to match my tv-induced hype, plus I have forgotten sooo much from the previous books and need to start hitting the textbooks again. Damn.
  • Squee: The Headstones back together and recording new material? *BOUNCES* And the new site with actual lyrics and streaming of all their songs is a great touch.
  • Also squee: Garbage are also back together and making new songs, what is this, I am in music heaven.
And it's 4:30 am again and I should run to bed :P. I'd love to go through the f-list but that's for tomorrow and I'd love it if people tell me things I missed although I realize that may be pretty much everything :].
Oh and thanks again for the chocolate userheads :D

Hey, you!

I was really surprised by how well all the characters in GoT did match my vision of them. I think they cast it pretty beautifully. In all senses.

I haven't seen JGL in many things, but have you seen his hitRECord thing? It seems pretty cool, and he does seem like a really interesting proper person.

More and more of my flist are talking about Criminal Minds. I feel like maybe I ought to give it a go, yes.

Hey! :D

Well I am not denying that the actors are doing justice to their roles and I mostly got used to them. Plus I agree a lot of them were indeed perfectly cast.

Yes, I have seen the hitRECord site and I think it's really cool (especially like the Tiny Book Of Tiny Stories thing). Nope, he sure doesn't seem boring at all xD I am just a bit weary of watching too many interviews with him because of his hipster reputation, I love him already so I don't want to start thinking he's too pretentious *l*.

Criminal Minds is... well I don't know if I can say "delightful" for something full of graphic crimes and serial killers, but uh, yeah *lol* The team is great, the characters evolve, the cases are interesting.

*waves* You haven't missed anything from me but a bunch of whining and a bit of Flashpoint squee. Good luck with your exams!

Hi! :)) I hope you're better now?
Flashpoint! I need to do a lot of catching up there and I think that may come after Criminal Minds while I am still all "awesome crime fighting teams yay!" *g*.
Thank you! I want it to be overrr :P

Oh, Game of Thrones... :D I'm reading the books atm (am halfway into A Feast for Crows), and they're just so looonnng. ;___; I do enjoy them, but they're dragging on and on... I love the show, though I agree that most of the characters don't look how I pictured them. I think Arya is perfect though. <3

I approve muchly of your love for Inception/JGL/Tom Hardy, since I am still flailing about all three. The fandom is indeed wonderful! Are you aware of ae_match going on? It's awesome. Let's hope Inception fandom won't ever die, because I don't think I could take it. D:

Also, hi nyn hi! I think we only met in chat two times (?), and also I apologise for this slightly incoherent comment.

Hi Bran! :)) Yes, I think we've only met a few times in chat, so I'll tell you that until recently, the title of this journal was "Warning: disjointed rambling ahead" *lol* Semi-coherent is my usual state so everyone else is also welcome to be so here (not that you were) ;P

My problem with aSoIaF is I read the books so long ago I have forgotten a thousand details (and some quite major occurences, apparently). And ahahah, I was coming from being obsessed with The Wheel Of Time around the time I started A Game Of Thrones, so the (current) length was actually refreshingly small xD ...Now I am looking at all 959 pages of A Dance With Drangons' hardcover glory and kind of gulping.
Arya, Ned, Tyrion and Dani are the ones that fit perfectly for me. A lot of the others are also close to the way I imagined them, but Jon, Sansa (no matter how many times I am told she's amazingly beatiful I'll still think she's very unfortunate looking :/), Jaeme and Cersei who I was pretty sure were supposed to be younger...

Now that I have finally decided to try to make this journal not dead again I guess really need to go friend some Inception fandom people and communities (am working the old fashioned lurking and stalking way for now lol). Yes, I look at ae_match and there is so much great stuff there, but I haven't had time to really sit and read through most of it yet. Stupid studying, it has been constantly interfering with my enjoyment of this fandom *l*. But it's been the gift that keeps on giving and I love it :D

Yay rambling! \o/ I think I was on the computer without my glasses on, plus it was late, which always makes me think I'm being hopelessly incoherent! :D

It's difficult to remember everything that's going on in Song of Ice and Fire; I think I gave myself a break of a month tops between two of the books, and then I felt totally out of the loop with everything!
I totally agree! Sean Bean was basically the reason I started watching Game of Thrones, and Arya, Tyrion and Dani ~are perfect. I'm okay with Sansa, I got used to her, but Jon can't act imo, though he's admittedly very good at sulking :)? Also, Cersei has that pained/vulnerable look all the time, which always makes me go, "duh, aren't you supposed to be this cool, manipulative woman?"

You totally should! I can't believe the amount of talented people in Inception fandom. I'm not very good at reccing and most people have already read the stuff I'd rec, but you should totally read allothi, cherrybina, gyzym, jibrailis and weatherfront (among many, many more) if you haven't already. (:

Hiiiiiiiiii! *glomptackle*

Dude, I still haven't seen either Game of Thrones OR The Eagle, and I feel like my life is missing out on awesome things. Bad decisions, I make them. But omfg god, GARBAGE ARE BACK TOGETHER? SERIOUSLY? I was just listening to one of their albums last night and lamenting that I wouldn't get any new ones. I - I cannot even deal with this level of joy.

HI HI *glomps* :D
It's pretty awesome to see Game Of Thrones done with enough money so you don't cringe at the sets/effects/costimes/makeup etc (Well, ok, I cringed at Ronan's Drogo's makeup a lot. But that was someone's artistic decision I guess :P. I love the Wall though!) and good actors, and keeping to the book.
The Eagle is a fanfic on the big screen :P That's a pretty neat rec post, with trailer included, I stumbled upon the other day while trying to get a friend to watch it. What? I still love pimping xD
GARBAGE INDEED SEEM TO BE MAKING A NEW SONGS! http://www.mtv.com.au/news/b20f665d-garbage-are-back-mtv-classic/ Sometimes I love facebook for telling me things *lol* This was something that I had thought would remain wishful thinking. And I had also started to listen to them more often lately omg CAN'T WAIT.

I just do that. Trying to control it has failed time and time again, to the point that I've put a warning in my userinfo /o\
